There is good news for Saint Anselm College in two recent financial ranking reports. The college has been ranked statewide and nationally as a high ROI (return on investment) college.

"Saint Anselm College is honored to be ranked among the top institutions in the nation for return on investment," says Dr. Steven DiSalvo, president of the college. "We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality education that translates into outstanding employment opportunities for our graduates." He points to data from earlier this year, showing that 98 percent of the college's 2012 graduates were employed, in graduate school, or engaged in service.

The news comes at a time when many people are asking whether the cost of attending college-especially a private, liberal arts college-is justified by the potential career payoff.

In a national list compiled recently by PayScale, an online salary, benefits and compensation information company, Saint Anselm was among the top 300 schools for return on investment. It was one of only two colleges in New Hampshire that were included, the other being Dartmouth college.

Affordable Colleges online High ROI CollegesStatewide, Saint Anselm was ranked second by, which analyzed 45 colleges in New Hampshire and ranked the top nine that provided students with the greatest lifetime return on investment. In its rankings of fully accredited, four-year, not-for-profit colleges and universities, Saint Anselm follows Dartmouth College and comes ahead of UNH (main campus), Rivier College, Southern New Hampshire University, Plymouth State University, Keene State College, Franklin Pierce University, and Colby Sawyer College.

Criteria included net tuition prices, graduates' average starting salaries, and ROI calculation provided by Payscale.

According to Dr. DiSalvo, successful outcomes of the college experience cannot always be measured in dollars. "Saint Anselm students find their true passion and go on to excel in jobs that they love doing," he says. "Their work is fulfilling and has a tremendous impact, whether or not it is in a high-income field."
