Rebecca Jordan '14Rebecca Jordan '14 loves all kinds of literature-and she plans to share that passion in a classroom of her own someday. When she received the Honorary Conley Scholarship from the English department, she got a little extra inspiration, as well as financial help.

The endowed scholarship was established by the late Austin Conley, who taught English and the classics at Saint Anselm for 36 years, and his wife, Ruth, who taught in the nursing department.

Jordan's thesis topic is a contemporary examination of John Milton's epic poem, "Paradise Lost."

"To me, it means my work didn't go unnoticed," says the Ellsworth, Maine, resident. "I'm always happy to see that people care about supporting the liberal arts."

Jordan has a minor in German and proficiency in speaking French. She is the editor of Quatrain, Saint Anselm College's literary publication. Graduate school is in her plans, but she is also interested in teaching English in Germany. She already has experience teaching, as a registered substitute in her local school system during breaks from college.
