Pink the Rink 2014Both the Saint Anselm College men's and women's ice hockey programs will be donating $5,200 to the Breast Cancer Research Wing at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H. thanks to funds raised during their "Pink in the Rink" event on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18.

The two-day event drew 2,000 fans to the Thomas F. Sullivan Arena in an effort to raise funds and awareness to combat breast cancer. Both the men's and women's ice hockey players donned pink jerseys at each of their two games Friday and Saturday, in addition to pink accents in their game-day apparel and equipment. The women's jerseys, predominately pink with white piping down the sides, were donated by Hawks' booster Bob Rotondo.

Players from both squads participated in the fundraising effort across campus in the week leading up to the games. Special long-sleeve t-shirts were sold at tables located in Davison Hall, as well as at the games. Pink paper ribbons lined the entrance to Sullivan Arena, covering the entire glass wall with signs of support and remembrance of those lost to the disease. Additionally, commemorative pink programs were sold throughout the weekend of games.
