Women's Hockey Coach Kerstin MatthewsKerstin Matthews, women's ice hockey head coach, captured her 100th career victory recently when the Hawks defeated the Ephs at Williams College on December 7.

She is in her sixth season at Saint Anselm and chalked up the milestone win in her 146th game behind the Hawks' bench.

Matthews' team has won more than 70 percent of its contests under her watch. She's proud of her team, and not only for piling up the victories.

"I have an extraordinary group of women here that I'm able to attract because of the place Saint Anselm College is," she says. "We're able to attract very good players and without talent, you can't win."

The team's success includes back-to-back ECAC Open Championships the last two seasons.

Matthews previously coached at Boston University, and was a four-year player at Providence College.
