Thanks to the youngest alumni classes, the fourth annual month-long giving event, March Challenge, was once again a huge success. For the 31 days of the month of March, Saint Anselm College asked the classes of 2006 to 2015 to compete against each other to donate the most gifts to the Saint Anselm Fund.
The name of the game is to see which class can get the most alumni participants, no matter the amount of money raised. The class with the most individual donors, the class of 2012, won the challenge, and its banner will now hang in Alumni Hall for the next year (a new incentive for classes to "win the wall" in this year's campaign).
"During the course of March Challenge our young alumni united to make a difference," said Jim Flanagan, senior vice president for college advancement. "As impressive as their friendly rivalry was, it was the tremendous amount of volunteer turnout that truly impressed me. It was wonderful to see the undeniable loyalty of our youngest alumni again this year."
It's the third year in a row that the class of 2012 gave the most gifts - accounting for $922.12 and 42 participants.
Overall, the 2016 March Challenge raised a generous total of $12,936 from the 292 donors that participated.
This year's gifts were designated to scholarships, student-focused programs like Campus Ministry, athletics, and more. The most gifts were given to academics, Anselmian support, and scholarships.
"The characteristic that shines through the most during March Challenge is the power of community - collectively, our youngest alumni make a striking impact," said Danielle Anctil, Associate Director Annual Giving. "Together even the smallest donations can help us exceed expectations which is what the hilltop is all about."
Thank you to all who participated, and congratulations to the Class of 2012!
Though March is over for another year, there are many opportunities available for alumni interested in staying in touch. For more information about volunteering contact Kathy Flynn, Director of Annual Giving, at 603-641-7555 or email@example.com.
