Sigma Delta Pi honors students who seek and attain excellence in the study of Spanish language, literature, and culture. Students are considered for membership with a 3.0 or higher GPA, who have completed at least one Spanish culture or literature course above the 300 level, and who are in the top 35% of their class. The society was founded at the University of California, Berkeley by student Ruth Barnes in 1919. The Omicron Rho chapter was founded at Saint Anselm College in 1984.
