So on Feb. 24, the eve of Saint Anselm College's spring break, 32 students, seven alumni, and one monk set off on a musical journey through southern France, Monaco, and Spain.

The group will perform 5 concerts and one Mass in churches in Nice, Avignon and Cannes, France, Monaco, and Barcelona, Spain. They will sing a variety of sacred music, unaccompanied, drawing from their 18 well-practiced pieces.

Alumnus Robert Aldrich '01 accompanied the group as assistant to the choir director. In addition, alumnae Amanda Carrington, '11, Kathleen Young, '10, Sarah Fitzpatrick, '08, Jennifer Kernan, '08, Christine Jesoraldo, '08, and Lauryn Walker, '06 accompanied the group. Fr. Bede Camera, O.S.B., the choir's director, believes each student gains something different from the trip and recognizes how memorable an experience it can be. "I want them to have memories of performing in these beautiful places."

This is the choir's fifth trip to Europe. In the past, students have visited and performed in cities such as Vienna, Prague, Rome, Zurich, and Paris. They will return to campus on March 6. In the meantime, photos of the trip can be viewed on the college's Flickr photostream.

Follow the choir on the road on the college blog where Bobby Aldrich is posting updates on the groups' whereabouts.
