This year, the college will commemorate the eleventh anniversary of September 11 with a week of events culminating to the 9/11 Remembrance and Day of Service on Saturday, September 15.

Beginning Saturday morning, faculty, staff, and students will serve local nonprofit agencies in the community in honor of first responders including Pine Haven Boys Center, Hillsborough County Nursing Home, and Liberty House (a shelter for homeless vets).

The college community is gathering supplies to contribute to MooreMart, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to military members, clinics, schools, and orphanages in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. Check the list of needed items or read more about Mooremart in Portraits magazine.

First Responder BBQ and Family Day

In addition to serving the community, the college is hosting a BBQ and family fun day on Saturday, September 15 for first responders and their families.

Faculty, staff, and students will provide wiffle ball games, a soccer clinic, arts and crafts and other activities for those invited to attend. We will also be sorting those donated supplies which will be used for care packages for men and women overseas, and we'd love to have your help! If you'd like to contribute to the supplies, check the list of needed items.

The day will include a BBQ and talk by alumnus Paul Moore '80. At the end of the day the community will gather for the raising of the American flag.

The 9/11 Remembrance and Day of Service is in honor of the first responders who ensure the safety of the community at large.
